The MWVHSC has seen hundreds of exhibitors compete at it's shows through the last 20 years. Many have returned to it's shows after a brief absence. Some have come back with kids and grandkids, all with new horses and one, in particular with a "new horsey" husband.
Cassie (Stephenson) Fernald grew up with horses, alongside her cousin, Sherrel. As kids, many miles were spent in the saddle, riding the trails of the White Mountains. Cassie also moved into the showring at a young age. She rode many Champions for the family and friends; notably, the multiple champion, Chief of Indian Hill, a tobiano Pinto pleasure type stallion, AZH Naborr Dero, a Wayne Newton bred Arabian stallion, Fresca, a Palomino Appaloosa, Eric, Richard Riff's Arabian gelding in Arabian Costume, as well as her own Saddlebred mare, Markka (25 and still at Dragonfly Farm) and many of Pine Glen's horses.
Alan was introduced to the horse world following their marriage. Alan's kind and gentle way with horses has led him to the equine world with his Belgian mare, Sara. Sara, being the first of their three PMU rescued mares is proof that kindness is the only way to go.
Besides competing with Sara, Cassie and Alan are also the kind of folks who jump in to help where needed. Cassie has been working the MWVHSC Secretaries Booth for several years and also works the Lancaster Fair Office as needed. Alan can be found setting up trail classes, sorting jumps and doing whatever is needed.
To keep the costs down for our exhibitors, the MWVHSC relies on volunteers such as Cassie and Alan. We are eternally grateful to them for their help and support.
Because of this ongoing support, both in the ring and out, the MWVHSC has chosen Cassie and Alan as our MWVHSC FAMILY STARS.
