site. Here's one, however, that falls under legal tack. Horses five and under may be shown in a snaffle or bosal regardless of seat
ridden. A snaffle is a bit that has a single mouthpiece and either a round ring or D-ring on either end. The reins and cheekpiece
connect directly to these rings. A western bit with shanks is considered a curb whether it has a solid or jointed mouthpiece. If anyone
is using a curb bit, it MUST have a curb strap or chain. A snaffle may be ridden with two hands; a curb with one.
Halter Championship: People were confused regarding the Halter Championship. If you placed first or second in any of the classes 1
through 6, you must return for the Championship. If you took a first place, you line up in a row facing the fence. If you took a second
place, you line up directly behind the first place horse in the class that you took second in. If you placed first in say,,,stocktype halter
and second in colorbreed halter, you would line up in the first place row as the winner of the stocktype halter class and be judged
accordingly. The second place would be canceled out. No points towards Year End Awards are given in the Halter Championship.
Other Championships: If you were entered, shown and Judged in one of the qualifying classes for a particular Championship, you are
eligible for that Championship whether you received a ribbon or not. These Championships do award points towards the Year End
Awards.
Holds on Classes. For the most part everyone was very good about letting us know when they required a hold on a class. The time
allowed for a hold is 2 minutes from when the first horse enters the ring. If the hold is for a tack and rider change, the limit can be
extended IF the show is running on time or ahead of time. It is recommended that tack, attire and other riders be brought to the gate
area for the changes. Many people used up their time limits just riding back and forth from the ring to their trailers. By being at the
gate area, the gate keeper will know whether you are ready or not.
