The Atilando Memorial Trophy
Atilando, aka Andy, was a smallish Arabian gelding with a big, big heart. Andy was bred by the late Richard and Pat Riff of Patsha Arabians in Lancaster, NH.
Andy came to Pine Glen as a young horse and lived well into his 30s. During his lifetime at the Farm, he was shown in hand, English Pleasure and Arabian Native Costume. He would, on occasion be ridden huntseat and stockseat, but his love was the Costume Class.
Andy would be remembered throughout New England and Canada for his great burst of speed during his numerous victory passes.
In later years, Andy was ridden by a variety of youngsters in the Leadline classes and he was also a member of the Lancaster Guard Color Guard.
On the home front, none could ask for better. He never had a sick day, nor took a lame step. This being a testament to the breed. Andy never wore a horse shoe in his entire life. He was a trustworthy trail horse and a dependable mount in our local parades. Andy is sorely missed.
Sherrel Stephenson, Andy's lifelong rider and companion has chosen the Arabian Pleasure Horse Champion in which to present this competition award.
